A Study on Accuracy of MIRAE Auto Ref-Keratometer MRK-2000
Cho Byung-Joo

Abstract
To evaluate the accuracy of an domestic auto ref-keratometer(MRK-2000), the author analyzed the differences in spherical equivalent value, spherical power, cylinder power and keratometric base curve between automated refraction with MRK-2000 and subjective refraction.
124 patients(248 eyes), who did not have any ophthalmic disease were divided into three
groups, myopic group(up to -5.00 diopter:D, spherical equivalent, 151 eyes), high myopic group(over -5.25D, 35 eyes) and hyperopic group(62 eyes). They were examined with MRK-2000 and subjective refraction was performed by an ophthalmologist and results were analyzed by paired T-test.
The mean spherical equivalent value of automated refraction in each group were -2.03 1.16D, -6.71 2.16D, +137 1.45D, respectively and -1.85 1.13D, -6.02 2.10D, +1.27 1.20D in subjective refraction. The mean spherical power of automated refraction were -1.61 1.15D, -6.25 t 2.011), +1.28 1.51D, respectively and -1.55 1.11D, -5.78 1.96D, +0.93 1.25D in subjective refrac-tion. The mean cylinder power of automated refraction were -0.83 0.77D, -1.38 1101), +0.96 0.76D respectively and -0.60 0.82D, -0.97 0.82D, +0.67 0.85D respectively in subjective refraction. Except spherical power in high myopic group, all differences between automated and subjective refraction show statistical significance. The mean keratometric base curve of automated keratometry was 7.85 0.42 mm and 7.89 0.32 mm in subjective keratometry and these two differences did not show statistical significance.
This study revealed that there was statistically significant difference between automated and subjective refraction and show myopic shift in myopic group, which were compatible to the results of other auto ref-keratometer.
